Intuitive Strategies Will Help Us Survive (And Win)

Intuitive strategies for surviving capitalism are the central focus of my work.

Most of the Hoodoo, cartomancy, tarot, intuition, and herbalism courses I’ve found are somehow completely divorced from the reality of the moment. Many readers are too.

They don’t have any answer to why things have gotten so bad, and they aren’t oriented towards how these advantages (because intuition and plant wisdom are advantages) will help us survive as we work towards liberation.

I think the siloing of spirituality hides how these gifts have been employed in the service of liberation since time immemorial. It obscures how many of us are employing our gifts in this way right now.

My students, particularly in Intuitive Strategies Network, often ask me “does your work always have a political framework?” Well, yes and no.

When a client’s ancestors prioritize money when what a client understands they need is rest, the conversation is, in addition to everything else, political.

Same when someone feels an inability to let go of past connection — I can see how our society creates scarcity that can make it seem that love will never come again.

My work is about holding several aspects of life at once: personal, political, physical, and spiritual.

The best long-form representation of this is in my writing.

The best long-form representation of this is in my writing. It’s more generative on my Substack black medicine || black magic, and more practical Here on my blog.

There’s some in between, of course, but here are a few of my favorites:

Herbalism, Burnout, and Lowkey Grifts

Radical Hoodoo History

Cartomancy for the Culture

If somewhere along the way you learned that spirituality existed only for its own sake, I encourage you to think about how your practice supports all of the other work you do.

How does it keep you motivated towards your goals, the people you love, and your community? I’d love to hear your answer in the comments!
